World Music Day: Music for social change
June 20 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Enjoy a multicultural experience where independent artists in Bangalore come together to celebrate music for social change. The evening is curated by Vinay and Amrapali Shinde.
Vasu Dixit, the inspired composer, vocalist, and guitarist of Swarathma, has a unique way of approaching music. Passionate about experimenting with both Kannada and Hindi, he is regarded to be one of the most respected singer-songwriters of his generation in India.
Khalid Ahmed’s soulful voice in his Hindustani-inspired music takes roots in his home back in Srinagar. Having moved here to Bangalore, he developed a soft spot for the city and it’s culture. He started composing music at the age of 15. Today, he is the lead singer and guitarist of Parvaaz, a popular independent psychedelic rock band based out of Bangalore, with his solo work on the way.
Amrapali Shinde, our very own beloved rosette, is a young singer-songwriter specializing in pop, soul, and R&B. She arrived at Bangalore’s music scene at 15, when she released an album ‘Basava in You’, that she collaborated on with her father. Her big break arrived in the form of an opportunity to be on The Voice, mentored by Shaan. Aside from that, Amrapali has also been a part of Srivastava, a collective connecting multiple female musicians from across the world.
